Team Third Law Academy was founded in 2007 by husband and wife team Roberto and Katy Torralbas. Instructors at Team Third Law BJJ have years of specialized training in physical fitness and martial arts and are described as highly qualified, award-winning Black and Purple Belt instructors. The leadership and coaching team includes Master Roberto Torralbas, Coach Katy Torralbas, Coach Joey Ruggiero, and Coach Joe Formica. Master Roberto holds a Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, graduated from Cornell University in 2005 with a degree in electrical engineering and computer science, and has won championships including the Gold Medal at the No Gi Pan American Championship in 2015 and Brown Belt Pan American Champion in 2013. Coach Katy graduated from Cornell University in 2006 with a degree in English and history and was Purple Belt American National Champion and Blue Belt Pan American Champion in 2013. Coach Joey is a purple belt who has won numerous international championships at purple belt and was Blue Belt Pan American in 2013, and Coach Joe is a purple belt who has won international championships at purple and was Blue Belt Pan American Champion in 2014.
