About

Youth Program takes place at a shared-use sports complex that includes facilities for archery, basketball, and volleyball. The program uses a dedicated indoor archery range with 18 shooting lanes to 18 meters, along with an indoor gym that is set up for basketball, volleyball, and multi-use activities. Participants also have access to a dedicated outdoor archery range with a 160 foot covered shooting line, a practice field with shooting distances out to 90 meters, and a 60-acre wooded archery course with walk-back target stations and 14 field targets.

• Schedule: Hours of operation are Tuesday through Friday from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM and Saturday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with the program closed on Monday and Sunday.

The Youth Program is part of a 100 acre sports complex that is specifically designed for archery and other recreational activities and is co-managed by the Easton Foundations and the City of Newberry. The facility houses both the City’s Recreation Department and the Archery Center and functions as a shared-use recreation space. The archery program’s stated focus is on training archers and coaches, developing curriculum, and providing a venue to host archery events of various sizes and styles. The indoor range is wired for a public address system, wireless microphones, and video, and it includes two large wall-mounted flat screen TVs, a drop-down screen with a ceiling-mounted projector, and high-speed and multi-linked video cameras that are available for training courses and instruction. The indoor range is brightly lit, has central heat and air conditioning, and uses target mats suitable for bows up to 70lb draw weight, and it has an attached repair and tuning shop where participants can learn about bow tuning and make fine adjustments on their equipment. The outdoor practice field includes a sidewalk that provides wheelchair access to various target distances, and nearby space can be transformed into a second field capable of holding 64 target mats, with a shade pavilion, concession stand with restrooms, and ample parking positioned near the outdoor field. Northern Florida’s mild winter climate allows for year-round outdoor shooting at this facility. The Easton-Newberry Sports Complex was inaugurated in 2009, and the program acknowledges support from Visit Gainesville, Alachua County through the Local Sports Destination Enhancement Grant.
