About
SwimRight Academy offers private swim lessons, group swim lessons, adult swim lessons, and a SwimTots program, along with the SwimSafe and SwimRight programs. Students work on the swim-float-swim sequence, drills such as catch-up freestyle and backstroke switch, and skills including breaststroke kicking, butterfly kicking, starts and turns, and aquatic fitness. Instruction covers all four competitive strokes: freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly, and also prepares interested swimmers for open water events, CPR, First Aid, and lifeguard certification courses.
• Ages: 0–18 years old
• Price: Private lessons start from $179/month and group lessons from $135/month. SwimTots classes start from $115/month. JCC members receive a discounted rate.
SwimRight Academy’s mission is to build water safety skills and develop confident, capable swimmers. All instruction is delivered through the SwimRight Method, a structured, proprietary curriculum built around the swim-float-swim sequence, with each level introducing specific skills that build on the last. The program takes students starting as young as 3 months old from the beginning stages of swimming to learning all four strokes, and private lessons are recommended for infants and students who are not yet water safe, while group lessons are suited for students at Floaters level and above. All new students begin with a complimentary trial class with no commitment required, and a free trial class is used to assess level.
Swimming lessons are taught by certified, caring, and committed instructors who remain in the water with the children at all times. The swim schools have taught tens of thousands of kids life-saving water safety skills in a kid-friendly environment, and more than 45,000 children have become water safe. The organization reports over 20 years of teaching and developing the learn-to-swim program and has received 300+ cheerful reviews from parents and community members.
SwimRight Academy was founded in 2005 as the Lenny Krayzelburg Swim Academy and launched its first partner location with the Jewish Community Centers (JCC) in 2009. In late 2018, the organization was restructured under the SwimRight Academy name and a franchise program was launched, and in 2019 it relaunched under the SwimRight Academy name and expanded its reach through a formal franchise model. The organization has a licensing partnership with JCCs, growing to 11 swim schools across the United States, and the original licensing model branded Lenny Krayzelburg Swim Academy continues to be reserved exclusively for JCCs across North America.
SwimRight Academy was founded by Lenny Krayzelburg, a four-time Olympic gold medalist and former world record holder in backstroke. His credentials include being 1999 and 2000 USA Swimming Swimmer of the Year, 1998 World Champion in the 100m and 200m backstroke, holding five world records in backstroke, serving as 2004 Olympic Swim Team Captain, and winning at the 2001 World Maccabiah Games. He is a member of the USC Sports Hall of Fame, the International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame, and was inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame in 2011. He serves on the boards of Tikva Children's Home and the American Friends of Israel Sport Center for the Disabled, supports the Jessie Rees Foundation, and serves as treasurer of the Michael Phelps Foundation.
Parent testimonials describe learning with professional instructors as an opportunity compared to having no formal training as a child, and mention that a child “always loved swimming since he was a little baby.” Parents also highlight the people and coaches, describing them as “so nice and wonderful” and saying it has been “a really good experience of being here.” Testimonials also state that they “just love all the instructors.”
