• Ages: 4–18 years old
The academy’s mission is to focus on developing the individual skills of its athletes so those skills can be used in a team environment, while encouraging work ethic, technical ability, tactical awareness, teamwork, and sportsmanship. It states that it aims to create an environment for players to grow as athletes and strive for success in all aspects of life, and to make soccer the preeminent sport in South Florida by sharing its passion for the game through diverse programs and enriching experiences.
The leadership of Colo Colo Soccer Academy USA includes Juan ‘Lolo’ Abarca. The staff reports having an extensive background working with and alongside top players in the USA, Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, Argentina, Peru, and Chile. As an affiliated state organization of US Youth Soccer, the academy provides levels for all players including local and national play, the Olympic Development Program, and US Soccer Federation coaching education licenses.
Program features include training for dedicated young soccer players who want to master the game of soccer, with training designed specifically for each player to build a foundation for a successful soccer career. The program serves boys and girls at every level, including youth who do not yet have the technical abilities to make a travel program, and offers club-based programs from recreational beginnings to high national youth levels. It offers exceptional training programs for players of all levels, personalized coaching that caters to each player's individual needs, advanced technical training five days a week, a UPSL program for players seeking to play at a semi-professional level within the United States, and an international scouting program that creates possibilities for athletes to participate in soccer abroad.
Parent testimonials describe Coach Lolo’s work with 8-year-olds who have never played before, noting that he is organized, teaches drills, and plays with the children the whole time, with one family’s 8-year-old and 4-year-old participating year-round. Other parents describe their children enjoying the coaches, team, and trainings, and mention that tournaments are very well organized and get the players excited about game day. One parent reports seeing a tremendous improvement in a child’s ability and stamina and expresses appreciation that the academy is in Lighthouse Point. Another testimonial, from a Chilean parent, recommends the academy in Spanish and English as a “real and good soccer academy” for children.
