About
Summer Camp at the Lightner offers hands-on activities, games, and exploration of the museum, with each day featuring different projects. Campers draw and paint, create portraits and landscapes, and take part in themed weeks such as Blast from the Past, Pencils and Palettes, Lightner’s School of Magic, Messy Masterpieces, and Around the World in 5 Days. Activities include exploring potions, astronomy, herbology, and learning about different cultures, art, and histories through museum exploration.
• Ages: 6–11 years old
• Schedule: Camp runs from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with drop-off starting at 8:30 a.m. and pick-up between 12:00 p.m. and 12:30 p.m.; five weeks of camp are offered in June and July 2026, including one four-day week.
• Price: $125 per child or $100 for Lightner Museum Household Members for each listed week of camp; a 50% refund is available until May 15, 2026, with no refunds after that date.
Campers work with a Lightner Educator each week to explore a new theme related to the museum, its historic building, and collections. For Messy Masterpieces, aprons are provided. Campers are required to bring a bagged lunch, a snack, and a refillable water bottle, and they are asked to wear closed-toed shoes and a light sweatshirt because some museum spaces can be chilly.
The Lightner Museum was founded in 1948 by Chicago publisher, collector, and professional hobbyist Otto C. Lightner. The museum states its mission as “To inspire curiosity, excite minds, and enrich lives through our unique collection, historic building, and dynamic exhibitions and programs.” Lightner Museum is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization registered in the State of Florida.
