About
St. Augustine Alligator Farm Zoological Park Camps & Youth Programs include activities such as daily wildlife shows, alligator feedings, and interactive experiences. Participants can climb and zip their way through the zoo on the Crocodile Crossing zip line, conquer sky-high obstacles, and zip line over the zoo. Crocodile Crossing puts alligators and crocodiles under participants’ toes as they surf the treetops eye-to-eye with tropical birds.
• Ages: 6–14 years old
• Schedule: Open 365 days a year, 9 am to 5 pm, with extended hours until 6 pm from Memorial Day to Labor Day
The Alligator Farm has been in the Drysdale family since 1937. Camps, homeschool days, and conservation minded events are part of the youth programs offered to the North Florida communities. The leadership and staff team includes Board Chairman and President David C. Drysdale; Secretary of the Board Frank D. Upchurch III; board members Robert C. Ferran, Richard D. Brock, David C. Drysdale, and James H. Drysdale; Board Treasurer and controller Toni Lekas; General Curator Gen Anderson; Curator of Reptiles Jim Darlington; Curator of Education Josie Taylor; Curator of Birds and Mammals Megan Victoriano; and Assistant Curator of Birds and Mammals Ashley Fink.
Staff credentials include academic and professional backgrounds in zoology, biology, accounting, law, and animal care, such as Dr. Kent A. Vliet’s faculty role in the University of Florida Department of Biology and his Ph.D. research at the St. Augustine Alligator Farm, and Josie Taylor’s work as an Education Specialist with the AZA Asian Hornbill SAFE program. Additional credentials include Megan Victoriano’s role as the AZA SSP Coordinator and Studbook Keeper for Hooded Vultures and membership in the AZA African Vulture SAFE Steering Committee, as well as Gen Anderson’s experience at three other AZA-accredited zoos and aquariums. The Alligator Farm reports a remarkable collection of all crocodilian species in its collection and conducts conservation and research work with partners around the world to support the survival of many species in the collection. Jim Darlington has over 25 years of service at the St. Augustine Alligator Farm Zoological Park and has been educating the public with lectures and live reptile demonstrations for the past 30 years.
