About

St. Augustine Alligator Farm Zoological Park Camps & Youth Programs include camps, homeschool days, and conservation minded events that take place within the zoo community. Participants can attend daily wildlife shows that feature alligator feedings and interactive experiences. The program also connects with the Crocodile Crossing zip line, where the course runs over the zoo and places alligators and crocodiles under participants’ toes as they climb and zip through the zoo, and it is associated with special events such as the 3k Raptor Run.

• Ages: 6–14 years old
• Schedule: Open 365 days a year, 9 am to 5 pm, with extended hours until 6 pm from Memorial Day to Labor Day

The Alligator Farm has been in the Drysdale family since 1937. The organization conducts conservation and research work with partners around the world to support the survival of many species in its collection. Josie Taylor has worked with North Florida communities to engage the public with camps, homeschool days, and conservation minded events.

The leadership team includes Board Chairman and President David C. Drysdale, Secretary of the Board Frank D. Upchurch III, Board members Robert C. Ferran, Richard D. Brock, David C. Drysdale, and James H. Drysdale, and Board Treasurer and controller Toni Lekas. The zoo’s management and animal care leadership includes General Director John D. Brueggen, General Curator Gen Anderson, Curator of Reptiles Jim Darlington, Curator of Education Josie Taylor, Curator of Birds and Mammals Megan Victoriano, and Assistant Curator of Birds and Mammals Ashley Fink.

Staff credentials include John D. Brueggen’s role in helping develop and co-coordinate the Crocodilian Biology and Professional Management course for zoo professionals working with crocodilians, his advisory role for AZA’s Crocodilian Advisory Group, his membership in the IUCN’s Crocodile Specialist Group, and his induction into the Explorers Club in 2018. Dr. Kent A. Vliet is a faculty member in the University of Florida Department of Biology, focuses his research exclusively on crocodilians, and conducted his Ph.D. research at the St. Augustine Alligator Farm from 1981–1983. Josie Taylor holds a BS in Zoology and an MS in Geography and Environmental Resources from Southern Illinois University Carbondale and serves as an Education Specialist with the AZA Asian Hornbill SAFE program. Megan Victoriano earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Zoology from North Carolina State University and serves as the AZA SSP Coordinator and Studbook Keeper for Hooded Vultures, as well as a member of the AZA African Vulture SAFE Steering Committee. Ashley Fink earned a bachelor’s degree in marine science from Coastal Carolina University. Gen Anderson has experience working at three other AZA-accredited zoos and aquariums.
