About
AMIkids Programs & Services offers community-based programs, residential programs, program enhancements, and service coordination. Residential programs operate 24 hours per day, seven days per week, with youth residing on campus. The organization also offers Marine Education, a Marine Apprenticeship Program, Seagrass Restoration efforts, and a premiere Yacht Donation program, and it highlights experiential education and unique adventure-based activities as key parts of its approach.

For more than 55 years, AMIkids has been described as a national youth-serving organization and has reported empowering more than 160,000 young people across the country, and in another statement, more than 57 years and over 172,000 young people. The mission of AMIkids Programs & Services is stated as “Empowering young people to discover their true potential.” AMIkids has nearly 50 programs nationwide, and AMIkids Tampa in Thonotosassa, FL offers After School, Career and Technical Education, Community-based, Delinquency Prevention, Family Services, and Pre-apprenticeship. AMIkids also provides regional service coordination for the Department of Juvenile Justice and works with local or state agencies to develop and manage a continuum of community-based and residential services from subcontracted direct service providers.
One student, Austin, shared that at AMIkids he learned not to bottle everything up inside and learned how to channel his anger into bigger things, such as focusing on his goals and not letting anger limit his growth. Emmitt Smith, identified as an NFL Hall of Famer, stated that he believes AMIkids has the ability to unlock the mental potential of what young people can truly do.
