About
Carrollwood Black Belt Academy offers Tae Kwon Do classes that include forms training, sparring, and weapons training. The program also includes a Demo Team that works on musical and weapons forms and fighting scenes, as well as a Competition Team where students train in forms, sparring, and weapons. Spring and Summer Camps include Tae Kwon Do classes along with fun and educational field trips.
• Ages: 4–18 years old
• Schedule: During the school year, the program runs Monday–Friday in the afternoons, and in June through mid-August it runs Monday–Friday during the day
Carrollwood Black Belt Academy includes a Little Dragons program for 4 to 6 year olds, a Young Warriors program for beginner, intermediate, or advanced youth, and Adult & Family classes. The program offers an after-school option that is open until 6:30 p.m., and students are escorted and transported from several elementary schools in the after-school program. The academy has no contract requirement, and the first class is free. It is described as a traditional school where students must earn their belts, are only promoted twice a year, must meet a minimum age requirement for testing, and must be 16 years old before they are eligible for their black belt. Many black belt teens at the academy began when they were 5 years old and are still active.
Carrollwood Blackbelt Academy has been a Tae Kwon Do martial arts center in the Tampa Bay Area since 1999 and is described as one of the first Martial Arts After-School Tae Kwon Do and daycare After-School Martial Arts programs established in the Tampa Bay area.
