About
Tampa Parks & Recreation Summer Camps include a traditional R.E.C. Camp and a variety of specialty camps where children take part in activities, crafts, games, and field trips. The program also offers options focused on visual arts, theatre, sports, and aquatics as part of its summer camp lineup. The R.E.C. Camp uses the theme “Recreation Nation” during its summer session.
• Ages: 5–12 years old
• Schedule: R.E.C. Camp runs June 1 to August 7 as a full-day camp for 10 weeks; specialty camps run from 3 days up to 1 week as half-day or full-day options
• Price: R.E.C. Camp is $80 per participant for June 1 to August 7; specialty camp prices vary by camp
The program offers two main types of camps during the summer season: the Recreate, Educate, and Create (R.E.C.) traditional summer camp and multiple specialty camps. Participation in R.E.C. Camp requires that a child has turned 5 on or before September 1, 2025. Summer camp applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis during the listed registration periods, and applicants must register for summer camps separately from any financial assistance application. Active Rec Cards are required for all enrollments, and teens 13 to 19 years of age qualify for a free Rec Card called the Teen Pass, which cannot be acquired online and must be obtained by visiting a facility or calling the office.
Financial assistance is available for those who qualify, and applicants must reside in the City of Tampa and provide two valid proofs of residency, proof of guardianship, and proof that the applicant receives assistance for each child. There are no automatic qualifications for financial assistance, and everyone must reapply and provide the required documentation. The financial assistance application window opens the first Monday of February, which is February 2, 2026, and the Summer Hotline is active from February 2 to August 7.
R.E.C. Camp registration dates are Monday, March 30, 2026, at 6 pm for Tampa residents online only; Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at 6 pm for Tampa residents online and in person; and Monday, April 13, 2026, at 6 pm for Tampa residents and non-residents online and in person. Specialty Camp registration dates are Monday, April 6, 2026, at 6 pm for Tampa residents online only; Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at 6 pm for Tampa residents online and in person; and Monday, April 13, 2026, at 6 pm for Tampa residents and non-residents online and in person.
The summer camp offerings include Therapeutic Rec Camp at Kathryn Malone Center, Kwane Doster Summer Camp, Drive In Movie at Loretta Ingraham, Reel Fishing Camp, Outdoor Summer Fun at Hunt Center, Champ City Tennis Camp, and Summer Camp at Jackson Heights. The leadership team connected to Tampa Parks & Recreation Summer Camps includes the Mayor, Jane Castor, and the City Council Chairman, Alan Clendenin, with the Parks & Recreation Director position listed as vacant.
