Indian River County Aquatic Programs offers a range of activities including the 100 Mile Swim Club, a Babysitter Training Course, a Junior Lifeguard Program, private swim lessons, group swim lessons, and Baby & Me and Preschool 1–3 swim classes. The 100 Mile Swim Club is a year-long challenge for swimmers of all levels, with staff tracking participants’ mileage, a year-end members celebration luncheon and recognition ceremony, and a custom 100 Mile Swim Club t-shirt for those who complete the challenge. The Junior Lifeguard Program is a two-week introduction to lifeguarding skills for ages 12–14, requires participants to swim 100 yards without stopping, swim 10 feet underwater, tread water for 1 minute, and float on their back for 1 minute, and concludes with a Beach Day celebration; each participant receives a Junior Lifeguard t-shirt, whistle, and lanyard, and space is limited to 10 participants per session. The Babysitter Training Course is an American Red Cross Babysitter Training Course that covers childcare, first aid, and CPR, and participants who successfully complete it receive American Red Cross CPR and First Aid certification. The Water Safety Instructor and Basic Safety Instructor courses are for individuals ages 16 and older who meet swim prerequisites and attend all scheduled class dates, and they provide the skills needed to teach American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim programs and essential water safety instruction.
