Gifford Academy for Performing Arts is an after-school program that offers music education programs and an after-school program for youth. Gifford Academy for Performing Arts was formerly known as Gifford Youth Orchestra. The organization was founded by Dr. Crystal Bujol, who also writes and directs the special Black History Month program. The academy’s mission states that it is an after-school program that empowers youth from Gifford and beyond through performance, transforming their lives with dignity and artistic excellence both in the community and on the stage. Gifford Academy for Performing Arts is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The program’s community involvement includes inviting the public to the Annual Fall Community Concert “Allegro!,” presenting a special Black History Month program each February, and welcoming parents, families, and community members to Parent Action Committee (PAC) Meetings. Signature features include the annual “Allegro” performance featuring over 40 young musicians, the America’s Greatest Stages Getaway Raffle, and Courtside Cabaret, an evening of music, storytelling, and cabaret-style performances.
