Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County was incorporated on April 3, 1969 as the Boys Clubs of Palm Beach County, Inc., and its first Board of Directors was formed on October 22, 1969. Club doors first opened on March 28, 1971, and on April 13, 1971, the organization was received into full membership with Boys Clubs of America. Over the years, the organization expanded with new club locations and facilities, including sites in Wellington, Riviera Beach, Delray Beach, West Palm Beach, Boca Raton, and Belle Glade, and it changed its name to Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County, Inc. on April 18, 1989 when it opened its doors to girls. During the 2020–21 and 2021–22 school years, Great Futures, a division of Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County, opened programs in several high schools, and today the organization serves more than 46,291 youth at 20 sites throughout the county.

The organization staffs 132 certified teachers and 445 Youth Development Professionals. Its mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need it most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County states that it is committed to federal, state, and local non-discrimination laws and that it does not discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, pregnancy, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, veteran status, or other protected categories, and this policy applies to employment and use of Club facilities. The organization offers workforce readiness programs that include career exploration, employability skills, and connections to real-life work experiences such as internships and apprenticeships, as well as health and life skills programs, character and leadership programs, and family services. It also offers programs and workshops in fine arts, theater, music, and dance, and holds an annual Youth of the Year Benefit where finalists receive four-year scholarships. Smith & Moore Family Teen Center of Belle Glade includes a state-of-the-art career readiness center for teens.
