About

Nike Basketball Camp Southland Academy includes individualized instruction, drills, and lectures focused on individual skill development and fundamental basketball skills. Campers take part in offensive and defensive moves training and use the MyLivingByNumbers.com online training program.

• Schedule: June 23–27, 2025 session

Kevin Douglas serves as Camp Director and is the Head Boys Basketball Coach at Southland Academy. He has over 20 years of playing and coaching experience at the collegiate, high school, and club levels, including four years of professional and semi-pro play and all-conference honors in college. The Elite Hoops Basketball staff works at the camp and is described as being comprised of coaches who specialize in camps, clinics, training sessions, leagues, and travel teams, and Elite Hoops Basketball has partnered with Nike Basketball Camps for over 12 years. The camp runs June 23–27, 2025, with check-in on Monday at 8:30am, daily hours Monday–Thursday from 9:00am–3:00pm, and Friday from 9:00am–12:00pm, with a closing ceremony on Friday at 11:30am.

The program includes more than three hours each day dedicated to individual skill development and uses the MyLivingByNumbers.com online training program to chart athletic progress. Upon arrival, participants are evaluated by staff so their instructional needs can be addressed during the week, and they are then split into smaller groups according to age and ability. Campers are grouped by ability, age, and experience at the director’s discretion, and the stated staff-to-camper ratio is 1:10. Campers at this multi-day camp receive a Nike Basketball Camps t-shirt, and basketballs are provided for instruction, with Nike All Court Elite Basketballs available for purchase during registration for $35 in size 6 (28.5") or size 7 (29.5"), distributed on the last day of camp. Campers are supervised by staff during camp hours, and team discounts are available for groups of 5 or more and for groups of 10 or more registering for the same camp.

Families are told that lunch is not provided and that campers should bring a packed or sack lunch each day. The suggested packing list includes athletic on-court clothing, athletic shoes, a water bottle, a packed lunch and snacks, and a small gym bag or backpack, and it is not recommended to bring a basketball from home because balls are provided by staff.

Parent feedback about the camp includes comments that the evaluation of individual campers with feedback and areas of improvement was a nice touch, that the smaller group size and organization kept things from feeling chaotic and kept kids eager to attend, and that there was a focus on improving individual skills as they relate to a team environment.
