About
Gordon County 4-H is a positive youth development organization that offers educational programs to K-12 school-age children. The program includes activities such as summer camp options (Cloverleaf Camp, Junior Camp, Senior Camp), Project Achievement with individual show-and-tell presentations in over 50 project categories, and a wide range of judging events like dairy cattle, horse, land, livestock, poultry, and wildlife judging. Participants can also take part in contests and programs such as the Watermelon Growing Contest, Pumpkin Growing Contest, robotics, 4-H Microsoft Tech Changemakers, Mission Make-It Engineering Challenge, Zoom into Science virtual science education series, Cotton Boll and Consumer Judging, LifeSmarts, and multiple food-related events including Egg Preparation, Chicken BBQ, Turkey BBQ, Food Challenge, Pantry Pride, MilkMake, and Peanutrition.
The program offers shooting sports through the SAFE (Shooting Awareness, Fun, and Education) disciplines of archery, 5 Meter BB, 22 Rimfire, and shotgun. Gordon County 4-H members meet monthly, either during school or at one of the after school club meetings, and homeschool youth can participate through the Homeschool Club. The program also includes leadership and citizenship activities such as club officer elections and training, 4-H Ambassadors, Leadership in Action projects, 4-H Day at the Capitol, the Certified Teen Leader Program, My Preparedness Initiative (MyPI) emergency preparedness training for teens, and conferences like the Georgia Cooperative Council Youth Leadership Conference, Southern Regional Teen Leadership Conference, National 4-H Conference, Citizenship Washington Focus, Washington Intern Program, National Youth Summit Series, and Global Programs. Community involvement includes service activities such as Rivers Alive cleanup, drives for clothing, school supplies, and pop tabs, ringing the bell for Salvation Army, and visiting nursing homes, as well as participation in fairs and festivals like the Northwest Georgia Regional Fair and the Georgia National Fair.
Arts and music options include photography and holiday card design contests, the Music Education Matters Summit, and Clovers and Company, a traveling music performance group of Georgia 4-H. Military Programs are available for youth in military families, and 4-H Days at UGA offer recreational and sporting events. For older youth, there are recognition and scholarship opportunities such as the Dean’s Award, Key Award, graduating senior scholarships, 4-H Camp Counselor Program, 4-H Collegiate Scholarships, Collegiate 4-H Program, and Collegiate 4-H Conference. Adults can support the program by coaching a competitive team, leading a project club, chaperoning youth as they travel to 4-H events, volunteering at local service or competition events, serving on the Gordon County 4-H Program Development Team, or donating financially or in-kind through goods or services.

• Price: There is no cost to be a member, though some optional activities and trips may have a small fee.

Gordon County 4-H has nearly 1,800 youth enrolled and is supported by more than 60 screened and trained adult volunteers. 4-H is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt nonprofit organization.
