About
YMCA Camp High Harbour offers overnight summer camps, day camps, and year-round retreats that include traditional camp sessions, watersports camp, the Advanced Leadership Academy, and BOLD/GOLD trips. Campers have access to an outdoor climbing wall, a full ropes course with zip line, an archery range, an athletic field, sports courts, nature trails, and a waterfront equipped with pontoon boats, kayaks, paddleboards, and the BLOB. The program also offers a high adventure Trailblazer program.
Staff complete a required staff training course each year before camp begins and must be certified in CPR, First Aid, AED, and emergency water safety, and all staff who work in or around water must be lifeguard certified. YMCA Camp High Harbour is fully accredited by the American Camp Association. Each site has at least one medical personnel who lives on-site full time, and the camp hires physicians, physician’s assistants, paramedics, and registered nurses to administer medications and first aid. Any prescription medications that need to be administered must be packed out by parents as noted in the parent information handbook, and the infirmary is fully stocked with over-the-counter medications that campers might need. The camper to staff ratio is 7:1, not including program directors and professional staff who live on-site. The camp can accommodate some special dietary needs, such as vegetarian, and does not knowingly serve peanut products at camp. Reflecting its Judeo-Christian heritage, the YMCA of Metro Atlanta is an association of volunteers, members, and staff, open to and serving all, with programs and services which build spirit, mind, and body, and financial assistance is available based on need, with the YMCA actively seeking to identify and involve those in need. The YMCA of Metro Atlanta offers programs that support youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility, and through community outreach programs like hunger relief, safety around water classes, and chronic disease support, the Y relies on partnerships with corporate, government, and community organizations to make a collective impact.
