Lewis Global Karate states its mission as “Building Confidence, Discipline, & Strength Through Martial Arts” and describes itself as a community dedicated to fostering the growth and development of men, women, and youth through diverse programs, with a belief in the holistic development of children. The program offers martial arts classes in English as well as Español for the Spanish-speaking community, and notes that Spanish speakers can contact David Guzman (“Hablamos Espanol, llame David Guzman”). The program states that it is not licensed by the State of Georgia, nor is it required to be licensed by the State of Georgia.
The After School Adventure program includes convenient transportation for kids in Kindergarten and up from schools in Sandy Springs, Dunwoody, Brookhaven, and Chamblee, and the service area for transportation includes Ashford Park Elementary, Montgomery Elementary, Huntley Hills Elementary, Hawthorne Elementary, Brookhaven Innovation Academy, Chamblee Middle, GLOBE Academy, and Peachtree Elementary (Gwinnett County). The program also notes that if a child is a current member of Lewis Global Karate, enrollment in the After School Program replaces the current membership, so families do not pay for both the weekly program and the monthly studio membership. Karate-themed Summer Camps are offered for kids ages 4–12.
For the Trial Program, the price is $30, participants receive a free T-shirt, and they are asked to arrive a few minutes early so they can be properly sized. One testimonial from a parent, John McLure, describes instructors encouraging their students and students from other schools during a competition with his daughter’s school. Another parent, L. Munoz-Smith, reports enrolling for the after school program, mentions great instructors and administrative team, notes Crystal at the front desk, and says their child advanced to the next belt quickly and that there is plenty of parking. A third parent, David Westwood, describes Lewis Global Karate as welcoming, notes that group classes are good and that instructors give individual instruction in a group setting, and states that leadership is benevolent, fair, and firmly rooted, and that he strongly recommends Lewis Global Karate based on years of his son’s involvement.
