Valley View Ranch Equestrian Camp for Girls focuses on horsemanship instruction in the riding rings, time in the saddle on trails, and the care and responsibility of having each camper assigned her own horse. The program includes English and Hunt Seat riding, Western Stock Seat riding, Barrels and Gymkhana, trails, and vaulting. Campers also take part in eco-education, swimming, canoeing, crafts, pottery, archery, theater and dance, group games, Gymkhanas, horseshows, and an awards session, and each girl may bring her own horse.

Since 1954, the stated purpose of Valley View Ranch has been to help each rancher have the full opportunity of horsemanship through instruction in the riding rings, time in the saddle on trails, and the care and responsibility of having her very own horse, and 2026 will be the 72nd summer. Enrollment is limited to 50 campers, and other recreational interests are planned secondary to the riding programs. Each girl can spend as much time as she likes with her favorite ranch horse during her stay, or she can bring her own horse, and each girl participates in all riding programs offered with special, individual attention and noticeable improvement in skill set.

Three generations of horse lovers manage Valley View Ranch: Jack and Olive Jones founded the ranch after operating Camp Cloudmont for boys beginning in 1948; their daughter Nancy has been owner and director since 1970; their daughter Janis is the mother of Chelsea, who serves as Assistant Director and Office Manager; and Barbara “Bo” Clark has coordinated all the riding programs since 1975. Only women of high ideals, strength of personality, and integrity of character are chosen as counselors, almost all counselors have previously been campers who return year after year, one wrangler is assigned as the immediate counselor to a group of five girls with at least two counselors in every bunkhouse, campers are divided into cabins according to age, and riding lessons are assigned and planned according to individual ability.
