Growing Room Child Development Centers offers activities in language, science, social studies, phonics, sign language, music, self-help skills, math, and art. Growing Room Child Development Centers describes its facilities as licensed, with secure, loving, safe environments and spaces designed to spark curiosity, creativity, and confidence. The curriculum blends language development with math, science, social studies, phonics, sign language, art, music, self-help skills, emotional growth, and character education, and includes state-funded Georgia PreK and Florida VPK programs designed for kindergarten readiness. The program offers multiple options for infants through school-age children, including Before & After School Care, Night Owl evening and weekend care, extracurricular enrichment, Summer Camp with themed activities, arts, and outdoor fun, as well as emergency childcare and other summer programs.
Growing Room Child Development Centers reports 11 locations in four states (Alabama, Georgia, Florida, and Massachusetts), serving more than 1,700 students across seven programs. The organization describes a strong partnership with parents that includes open communication, respect, and special family events such as Mother’s Day and Father’s Day breakfasts, Thanksgiving class lunches, Diaper Derbies, and Grandparent’s Day, along with opportunities for family members to visit and read to the children. The staff includes trained staff and experienced educators, and the founder, Sheree Mitchell, is a pediatric nurse. Sheree and her husband opened the first Growing Room in 1989, launched the Growing Room Franchise System, Inc. in 2007, and the organization cites 35 years of excellence. Sheree Mitchell has been named Georgia Small Business Person of the Year and later U.S. Small Business Person of the Year.
