The mission of the Autrey Mill Nature Preserve Association is to connect residents and neighboring communities to the natural and historical heritage of Johns Creek through imaginative and inspirational programs, and its stated purpose is to be a destination that inspires exploration, appreciation, and preservation of the natural environment and local history. The organization is described as a 46-acre preserve and heritage center and is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. It offers hands-on programs for children, interpretive hikes, volunteer opportunities, senior-focused events, and many programs that are free or low-cost, and it is described as a local treasure aiming to become a regional destination of choice, as well as a unique setting for weddings, receptions, anniversary celebrations, and more. Autrey Mill Nature Preserve Association partners with Contemporary Classics Theatre for Shakespeare In The Park, conducts the Medlock Bridge Subdivision Johns Creek Crawl & Clean-up, and receives support or sponsorship from elm 3 Financial Group, Johns Creek Baptist Church, NANFA, Six Bridges, Kona Ice, Paranormal Detectives, The Critter Depot, Johns Creek Convention and Visitors Bureau, residents of the Country Club of the South and the Country Club of the South Charity Guild, Veolia, and the City of Johns Creek. The Country Club of the South Charity Guild’s generosity in 2025 supported campers in need from Johns Creek, Duluth, Peachtree Corners, Alpharetta, and Roswell, Veolia helps power Johns Creek cleanup efforts and enables educational experiences that connect kids and families to the Chattahoochee River watershed, and the City of Johns Creek provides in-kind donations for the annual fundraiser Wild about Autrey Mill.
