Clayton County Parks & Recreation Youth Programs include activities such as the Get Fit Expo, health screenings, adult and youth fitness, financial literacy, Power Hour in the Park, and a Parents Night Out August Series with fun, games, crafts and activities. The programs also offer Fundamentals of Volleyball and 2026 Lifeguard Certification Classes that include a 300-meter swim, 2 minutes treading water without arms, and a timed-brick test with a 10-pound brick.

The Parents Night Out August Series takes place on Fridays, August 7, 14, 21, and 28 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Fundamentals of Volleyball for ages 8–12 meets on Mondays from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM. The 2026 Lifeguard Certification Classes run as 3-day series on multiple weekends in April, May, August, September, and October 2026, and participants must attend all 3 days in a series to complete the certification. Power Hour in the Park is scheduled for Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., and participants are instructed to bring a mat and water.
The fee for the Parents Night Out August Series is $20 per child. Fundamentals of Volleyball costs $50 for residents and $80 for non-residents. The 2026 Lifeguard Certification Classes cost $90 for those seeking a job with Clayton County Parks and Recreation and $150 for those seeking certification only.
Clayton County Athletics guarantees playing time for every child registered for a youth sports program regardless of athletic ability or team’s competitive circumstances. Clayton County Athletics staff and volunteers follow industry best practices in the management of youth sports programs, including compulsory sport-specific, on-court or field training and relevant national coaching certification. Clayton County Athletics is committed to minimizing children’s exposure to danger, harm, or loss through risk management practices and fosters a positive culture through regularly mandated orientation of volunteers, parents, and program participants.
The department’s mission is to foster leisure activities, pursuits, and experiences through the provision of a safe and well maintained park system and comprehensive and affordable recreation programs and facilities to the residents of Clayton County. Clayton County Parks & Recreation Department oversees the accreditation process (CAPRA) Commission of Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies through the National Recreation and Park Association.

Reynolds Nature Preserve and Clayton County Parks & Recreation participated in the Atlanta Science Festival at Reynolds Nature Preserve. Plans for four Pocket Parks aim to provide health and wellness opportunities to Clayton residents.
