The program offers both Specialty and Traditional Camp experiences, including sport and specialty camps and traditional camps with weekly themes. Age-appropriate activities are described as promoting independence and developing the four core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility, and Y camp counselors are described as vital to providing a safe, nurturing and fun environment for campers.
• Ages: 5–15 years old
• Schedule: Monday–Friday day camp with pre-camp and post-camp options
• Price: Y Day Camp offers affordable pricing well below many competitors; a non-refundable deposit is required at the time of registration; campers registered after 12 a.m. on the Saturday before the next week of camp incur a late registration fee of $15; weekly camp fees are due 10 days prior to the start of the scheduled week; a 3% processing fee applies to all credit card transactions
Most YMCA of Metro Atlanta Day Camps require campers to bring a lunch, preferably in an insulated lunchbox, along with a refillable water bottle, two snacks with no nuts, spray sunscreen, and bug spray, and campers are asked not to bring cell phones, laptops, or any type of electronics. Before camp, all campers must provide a Medical Waiver, an Authorized Camper Pickup Form, and a copy of the child's shot records on the school health form (3231), and forms cannot be transferred from other YMCA programs. Y Day Camp locations are licensed-exempt from Bright from the Start and currently accept DFCS (CAPS) payments, and financial assistance is always available for YMCA programs.
Since 1858, the YMCA of Metro Atlanta has been serving the ever-changing needs of the community. Reflecting its Judeo-Christian heritage, the YMCA of Metro Atlanta describes itself as an association of volunteers, members, and staff, open to and serving all, with programs and services which build spirit, mind, and body, and states that financial assistance is available based on need and that it actively seeks to identify and involve those in need. The YMCA of Metro Atlanta also offers community outreach programs such as hunger relief, safety around water classes, and chronic disease support, and relies on partnerships with corporate, government, and community organizations to make a collective impact.
