For 50 years, The Sunshine House has been helping children build an educational and social foundation. The program was founded 50 years ago in Greenwood, SC, by two public school teachers who could not find the quality early education they wanted for their daughter. Since 1975, The Sunshine House has been a trusted partner for families and is deeply rooted in the communities it serves, partnering with organizations to help create a better world.
Center Director Jaci Chabut leads The Sunshine House of Lilburn and has more than 27 years in early childhood education. She earned a Montessori Certificate in 2000 from North American Montessori.
The mission of The Sunshine House is to focus on school readiness, social and emotional development, literacy, problem-solving skills, and providing love and care for every child. Its curriculum nurtures curiosity, builds confidence, and supports whole-child development by blending literacy, math, science, and social studies with social-emotional and physical growth.
Parents describe The Sunshine House of Lilburn as a place where their children are welcomed with open arms and where their kids are thriving, according to Lorraine. Zachary notes that his family continued attending even after moving to another town because of the relationships they developed and the education their son is receiving. Sharonda says it is nice to be able to relax because of the care and love their kids and family receive daily, and Shannon shares that, as a first-time mom, she felt she made the right choice from her initial call. Sherry calls it a hidden gem and says teachers are attentive, sincere, and caring, while Laurel says the program feels like part of their extended family. Sarah is glad to have found a place that feels like home, and Lexi has seen remarkable academic growth in her children within a few months. Meredith says staff have loved her boys since they were 8 weeks old and have become like family, and Nadjea feels reassured knowing her daughter is in capable and loving hands. Adam is amazed weekly by what his children are taught, including new songs and sign language, and Vanessa says it is wonderful seeing her son excited about going to daycare there.
