About
YMCA of Metro Atlanta Summer Day Camp offers both Specialty Camps and Traditional Camps that include activities such as cooking, basketball, drama, STEAM, sports, art, gymnastics, teen leadership, and swim. Campers also take part in arts and crafts, group games, outdoor exploration, indoor learning experiences, archery, and canoe rides. The program includes age-appropriate activities that are designed to promote independence and develop the four core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.
• Ages: 5–15 years old
• Schedule: Monday–Friday full-day coverage with camp hours from 9:00 am–6:00 pm and optional pre-camp from 7:00–9:00 am and post camp from 4:00–6:30 pm
• Price: Y Day Camp offers affordable pricing well below many competitors; a non-refundable deposit is required at registration, a $15 late registration fee applies after 12 a.m. on the Friday before the next week of camp, weekly camp fees are due 10 days before the start of each week, and a 3% processing fee applies to all credit card transactions.
Most Y Day Camps are for kids ages 5–15, and preschool camps are available at some YMCA locations for children younger than 5. The YMCA accepts third party payment from organizations such as DFCS (CAPS) at many locations, and financial assistance is always available for Y programs. Program membership is required for non-members to register for YMCA programs and is valid for one year from the date of purchase. Y Day Camp registration for Summer 2026 is now open, and a Day Camp Parent Handbook is available for 2026.
Before camp, each camper must provide a Medical Waiver, an Authorized Camper Pickup Form, and a copy of the child’s shot records on the school health form (3231), and these forms cannot be transferred from other YMCA programs. Most camps require campers to bring a lunch, preferably in an insulated lunchbox, along with a refillable water bottle, two snacks with no nuts, spray sunscreen, and bug spray, and campers are asked not to bring cell phones, laptops, or any type of electronics. The program emphasizes open communication among campers, parents, and YMCA staff.
Since 1858, the YMCA of Metro Atlanta has been serving the ever-changing needs of the community. Reflecting its Judeo-Christian heritage, the YMCA of Metro Atlanta is an association of volunteers, members, and staff, open to and serving all, with programs and services which build spirit, mind, and body, and financial assistance is available based on need. The YMCA actively seeks to identify and involve those in need.
The YMCA of Metro Atlanta offers community outreach programs such as hunger relief, safety around water classes, and chronic disease support, and relies on partnerships with corporate, government, and community organizations. The YMCA of Metro Atlanta is enrolling for the 2026–2027 school year in its Early Head Start and Head Start programs and offers ways to get involved at local branches, including hunger relief efforts, youth sports coaching, and corporate volunteering.
