BlazeSports Youth Sports Programs offers activities including wheelchair tennis, wheelchair football, adaptive sports and recreation, track and field, archery, swimming, shot put, long jump, wheelchair basketball, rowing, lacrosse, and tennis. Track and field, wheelchair tennis, tennis, and archery are part of the regular schedule of activities.

• Price: The membership fee for BlazeSports Youth Programs is $100 each year, and BlazeSports America’s annual membership is required to register for any BlazeSports programs and is free for veterans.

BlazeSports America is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization formed as the legacy organization of the 1996 Paralympic Games held in Atlanta, Georgia. For nearly 30 years its stated mission has been to change the lives of children and adults with a physical disability through adaptive sports and recreation, and its mission statement notes a focus on children and veterans with physical disabilities. BlazeSports America added a Training and Education division in 2007 to increase the capacity of local service providers to offer adaptive sports programs.

Community events connected with BlazeSports America include the Big Peach Slam Jam Wheelchair Basketball Tournament, which is presented by the Atlanta Hawks and sanctioned by the WNBA; the annual Run, Roll & Row 5K, which includes both a traditional 5K and a rowing portion and is described as fully inclusive for all abilities; the Peachtree Paragames, a multi-sport event open to youth, adults, and veterans with disabilities from developmental to elite levels; and Blaze Days in the Community, which are events that introduce people of all abilities to Paralympic sports. BlazeSports America notes that Big Peach Slam Jam is the largest wheelchair basketball tournament of its kind in the country. BlazeSports America also notes that youth annual membership allows participation in an unlimited number of BlazeSports America programs each year, with exclusions for Camp Phoenix, travel, food and lodging associated with sport competitions, and special events as announced, and that veteran annual membership is free with similar exclusions for travel, food and lodging associated with sport competitions and special events as announced.
