Kid Chess

Kid Chess offers chess clubs and after-school chess programs for children in public and private schools. It also offers seasonal camps, tournaments and events for scholastic players, private weekly lessons, online chess practice through the Kid Chess app, and a brick-and-mortar Chess Zone with tournaments, simuls, classes, clubs, and camps.

About the provider

Kid Chess was started in 1998 by Justin Morrison and has taught chess to kids in Georgia schools for over two decades. Its mission is to keep the game fun for children while teaching sportsmanship, problem solving, critical thinking, and patience. The program says its coaches are highly qualified and experienced, are chosen for chess playing ability and for working with children, parents, and schools, and must pass in-depth background checks. Kid Chess also partners with many schools, sponsors school events, and donates funds, time, free classes, chess sets, and other equipment to schools.

Kid Chess camp attendees must know piece movement and checkmate concepts for the best experience. The Scholastic After School Chess Club is open to all students from Kindergarten through 8th grade and is hosted at Chess Zone in Roswell, GA. Advanced Camp registration is invite only and requires a USCF rating greater than 600 or equivalent achievement. We welcome graduated 8th grade students to join us for Summer semester camps.
