Experience Camps, founded in 2009, is an award-winning national nonprofit that offers no-cost summer camps and other in-person programming for grieving children throughout the United States. The program’s mission is: “We give children experiences that change their lives forever.” Experience Camps is made up of full-time staff, camp directors, Experience Camps volunteers, and licensed clinicians. Additional offerings include a Leaders In Training program for youth, and an Adults Grief Retreat, which is a weekend retreat for adults who are grieving. A parent described the impact on their child by saying, “Yes, they lost their loved one, but they have gained a family, a band of brothers.” — Lori Lane (mom of Trevor, age 13).
