• Schedule: Before care from 6:30 a.m.–7:45 a.m., after care from 2:45 p.m.–6:30 p.m., and summer camp days from 6:30 a.m.–6:30 p.m.
Camp Success Academy’s mission is to provide exceptional after-school and summer programming while fostering each child’s intellectual, social, physical, and moral development in a safe student-centered environment. The program is owned and operated by certified educators and uses teachers, paraprofessionals, and aspiring youth and young adults as staff. Camp Success Academy was founded by Leshia Reed-Anderson, who is an interrelated resource teacher at Baggett Elementary School in the Gwinnett County Public Schools District.
Camp Success Academy held its first summer program in 2015 at the Community Achievement Center in Dekalb County and its first after-school program at Baggett Elementary School during the 2016–2017 school year. It has been the sole provider of summer and after-school programming at Baggett Elementary since 2016. The program is vetted and approved as a Gwinnett County Schools childcare provider and operates at multiple Gwinnett County public elementary schools.
Camp Success Academy is a Three Star Quality Rated Program, is licensed by Bright from the Start, and is the first and only Three-Star Quality Rated after-school program in Gwinnett County. It has been voted Best of Gwinnett two consecutive years in a row and is a Best of Gwinnett 2021 recipient. The program describes itself as a one-stop shop for after-school and summer care needs and offers a transportation solution called Ride Right with a Camp Success Transportation Sign-Up Link. Zoom summer camp information sessions are approximately 1 hour long starting at 7:00 p.m. EST.
Parent testimonials describe the program as well staffed, using teachers, paraprofessionals, and aspiring youth and young adults, and note that it encourages entrepreneurship, pushes academic growth and focus, and balances fun and creative, lesson-filled activities. Parents report that children attend both the summer camp and after-school program, that the program kept children busy, fed them well, and taught them skills, and that staff are caring, with specific mention of Mrs. Anderson and other staff members by name. One parent notes that the program provided safe care during the summer during COVID and that breakfast and lunch were provided every day, and another parent of a child on the autism spectrum reports that the owner assured them the environment would be conducive to his needs and offered an array of activities including educational enrichment, physical play, and entrepreneurial activities.
