Legacy MMA Club

Legacy MMA Club offers training in Karate, Mixed Martial Arts, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Self Defense, Kickboxing, Muay Thai, Kenpo Karate, and Wrestling. The program also includes before and after school karate, fitness kickboxing, and transported after school care. Legacy MMA is described as a premier Mixed Martial Arts and Fitness academy with state of the art equipment in a 5,500 square foot facility.

Legacy MMA Club states that its goal is to provide professional level training in a family friendly environment. The leadership team includes head instructor Dustin “The Villain” Chovanic, local fighter Ivey Mewborn, and Gabe Leatherman. Dustin Chovanic is a 6th degree black belt in Kenpo Karate, has held state and national level titles in Karate, and fights professionally in both MMA and Muay Thai. His background includes training in martial arts since age 4, six Florida State Champion titles, three Georgia State Champion titles, representing the United States Karate Team from 1997–1999, a 2000 National Karate Champion title, and a Top 2 world ranking by NASKA. He has fought professionally in MMA and Muay Thai and for the pro kickboxing team NY Clash in the World Combat League, and is described as a trainer of over 30 State, National, and World Champions. Additional staff experience listed includes four years of high school wrestling, six years of kickboxing, and six years of MMA, and Gabe Leatherman is noted as a 2010 Western Carolina University graduate who has trained under Dustin Chovanic for seven years.

Legacy MMA Club notes that it has been voted Best of Gwinnett Karate & Mixed Martial Arts Studio. It is described as Gwinnett’s premiere facility for Karate, Mixed Martial Arts, Kickboxing, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and transported after school programs, and as Gwinnett’s best after school transported karate for kids and adults, MMA, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Self Defense, and Kickboxing. The program offers transportation to and from school for kids for before and after school karate, more than 25 classes each week, personal training sessions tailored to fit individual schedules, and a free trial lesson. After school registration is stated as open for 2026–2027, and four locations are listed: Sugar Hill, Buford, Duluth, and Hoschton in Georgia. Legacy MMA Club is also featured in Suwanee Magazine.
