The Georgia 4-H Environmental Education Program teaches science in the context of the environment, using the outdoors as a classroom without walls or boundaries. Since 1979, the program has provided a network of high-quality day and overnight educational experiences at six 4-H facilities that range from the mountains to the sea. Lessons in this program complement math, history, and language arts.

Since 1979, the Georgia 4-H Environmental Education Program has offered these educational experiences through six 4-H facilities: Wahsega, Fortson, Rock Eagle, Burton, 4-H Tidelands Nature Center, and Georgia 4-H at Camp Jekyll. The program is part of the University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, which works cooperatively with Fort Valley State University, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and the counties of Georgia. The organization states that it offers its educational programs, assistance, and materials to all people without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, or protected veteran status and is an Equal Opportunity, Affirmative Action organization.
