The Georgia 4-H Environmental Education Program offers day and overnight educational experiences that teach science in the context of the environment, using the outdoors as a classroom without walls or boundaries. These experiences take place within a network of six 4-H facilities known as Wahsega, Fortson, Rock Eagle, Burton, 4-H Tidelands Nature Center, and Georgia 4-H at Camp Jekyll. While the focus is science, the program also complements math, history, and language arts lessons.

Since 1979, the Georgia 4-H Environmental Education Program has provided this network of day and overnight educational experiences at the six 4-H facilities. The University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, working cooperatively with Fort Valley State University, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and the counties of Georgia, offers this program’s educational opportunities to all people without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, or protected veteran status as an Equal Opportunity, Affirmative Action organization.
