About

School of Rock Woodstock offers performance-based music education that includes weekly private music lessons, weekly group music lessons, and group rehearsals. The program combines one-on-one instruction with band performances, live performances at local music venues, and activities such as songwriting exercises, lyrical workshops, and recording original songs.

• Ages: 4–18 years old
• Schedule: Class and lesson options Monday–Thursday afternoons and evenings, plus Saturday daytime

At School of Rock Woodstock, the stated mission is to offer more than just music lessons and to build a community that fosters personal growth. The program includes specific options such as the Little Wing program for ages 4–5, the Rookies program for ages 6–7, the Rock 101 program for ages 8–13, the Performance Program for ages 8–18, and the Songwriting program for ages 12 and over. In Little Wing, students use hand percussion and other tools to learn rhythm patterns and music syntax, and in Rookies, students use simplified rock instruments to learn to play music. The Songwriting program culminates with a live showcase at a local music venue, and online Songwriting Program students remotely record original songs to produce a demo. An independent study reported that 96.2% of parents saw a boost in their child’s self-confidence after joining School of Rock programs, and 95.9% of parents reported improved teamwork skills after joining programs.

Another parent, Lori H, states that kids have a great time while learning to play, that lifelong skills and relationships are born there, and that the staff shares their passion for music and are professional and accommodating. Parent Chevelle S describes it as the best music program in the city with dedicated instructors and staff, a vibrant atmosphere, and notes that their 8-year-old has grown in skill and personal confidence. Parent Dustie S says the structure around how kids learn includes not only lessons on an instrument but also learning how to be part of a band, communicate, respect people and their opinions, and be accountable for themselves.
