About
Zookeeper Summer Camp gives campers the chance to learn about zookeeping and the animals that call the zoo home through game time, craft time, and animal presentations. Campers take part in special interactions with specific animals, including baby goat feedings, pictures with an animal ambassador, and animal scavenger hunts. They also learn about feeding, care, and enrichment for the animals by making animal enrichment projects, making treats for the animals, creating toys for the animals, and doing age-appropriate and safe chores that zookeepers do every day, such as feeding and cleaning.
• Ages: 6–12 years old
• Schedule: Full day summer camp, 8 weeks of summer day camp sessions, 9 am to 3 pm
• Price: Full Day Summer Camp, 9 am to 3 pm. Registration & payment prior to March 31st - $315. Registration & payment April 1st or later - $330.
Summer day camps do not have to be taken in order, and no camps are pre-requisites for other camps. The zoo features a diverse array of exotic animals, from mountain lions to otters, and many of the animals are rescues. At Summerfield Farm and Zoo, the mission is to create an unforgettable experience for families and animal lovers, with a focus on education and conservation so that every visit is both fun and informative. The organization notes that visits, donations, gift shop purchases, and snack shop purchases help to build and maintain exhibits and to feed the animals, many of which are rescues. The zoo also offers unique Christmas events with live reindeer and Santa.
