Boys & Girls Club of Bloomington-Normal After-School and Summer Programs offers after-school programming and summer enrichment that includes homework help, tutoring, mentoring, educational support, and computer use. Participants can take part in games, sports, athletics, dance, swimming, photography, arts and crafts, fine arts, movie making, discussion groups, STEM activities focusing on the future of technology, and introduction to the arts. The program also includes leadership development, leadership activities, service learning, volunteering opportunities, college prep, youth employment, career counseling, career exploration and development, computer training, delinquency prevention activities, and meals.

• Schedule: After-school and teen programs available on weekdays, with hours in the mid- to late afternoon and some evening options
• Price: Annual membership costs $25 per school year for the K–5 program and is free for Junior High and High School members.
The Boys & Girls Club of Bloomington-Normal After-School and Summer Programs is supervised by paid, professionally trained staff. Since January 1992, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Bloomington-Normal has been a recognized 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, and by 1993 it had moved from its original location in the basement of the John Kane Homes Community Center to its current setting within the Lawrence Irvin Neighborhood Center (LINC). The organization’s mission is “To empower all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.” Its programs are rooted in Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, and Good Character and Citizenship, and they serve the emotional, cultural, and social needs of youth ages 5–18. The organization states I CARE values of Integrity, Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence, and follows Five Keys of Youth Development that include creating a safe, positive environment; generating fun and a sense of belonging; encouraging supportive relationships with peers and adults; providing opportunities and setting expectations; and offering recognition. Community partnerships are described as an integral part of expanding the Club’s efforts, including introducing families to other resources in the community and collaborating with community leaders in a collective effort to build a stronger community.
