School Age Center offers afterschool open play, structured activities, sports, games, arts and craft, and special events. The program also includes homework assistance as part of its daily routine.

The program is run by well trained and caring staff. The leadership team for the Canton Family YMCA includes Mark Sawyer, CEO / Executive Director; Carlye Beadles, Associate Executive Director and Tumbling Director; Trisha Shubert, Administrative Assistant; Mike Arnett, Maintenance / Fitness / Rental Director (Youth & Adult Sports / Fitness / Rentals / Maintenance & Housekeeping); Caleb Taylor, Aquatics Program Director; Lydia Painter, Membership Services Director / Sponsorships; Kathy Langlais, Youth Development Director; Linda Henderson, Preschool Director; Patty Keller, Evening Building Supervisor / Birthday Party & Rental Coordinator; Whitney Murphy, Youth Sports; Donna Breason, Morning Clerical Supervisor; and Pam Downs, Preschool. The program offers affordable, afterschool care in a safe, nurturing, active, fun environment, with a 30% discount for additional children. Staff teach, model, and reinforce the values of Caring, Respect, Responsibility, and Honesty.

All families must fill out a bank draft form, and fees may be set up to be drafted from a checking account, savings account, or credit/debit card weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly. Online registration is available, and online donations for the Strong Kids Campaign are available. The Canton Family YMCA states that it is an association of members committed to enhancing the well being of youth, adults, seniors and families through quality programs and facilities, and that it is based on Christian values and provides activities that promote healthy lifestyles and encourage the development of spirit, mind and body. The Y describes itself as a cause-driven organization that is for youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
