• Ages: 5–14 years old
• Schedule: Half-day and all-day summer camps traditionally offered in June, with before and after care available from 7:45 to 5:15
Camp Countryside is open to all children in the area, with enrollment handled entirely online through SignUp Genius on a first-come, first-served basis after sign-up and payment. Campers can enroll in a morning camp and a different afternoon camp. Camps are grouped as Stardust camps for K–2nd grade, Comet camps for 3rd–5th grade, and Asteroid camps for 6th–9th grade, and include a dedicated “Put on a Musical!” camp option.
Countryside School, which runs Camp Countryside, was founded in 1992 and is led in the summer by Eileen Guest, Summer Camp Director. Most of the teachers have earned advanced degrees such as a Master’s or PhD in addition to a Bachelor’s degree. Countryside School states that it is an independent K–8 school that fosters high academic achievement, develops creative and critical thinking skills, and emphasizes balanced growth intellectually, physically, emotionally, and socially for every student. It is the only ISACS-accredited independent K–8 school in the area, Central Illinois’ first ISACS-accredited school, and Champaign-Urbana’s only nonprofit, nonsectarian, ISACS-accredited, independent K–8 school, with small class sizes, large combined team-taught classrooms, and all classes from kindergarten through middle school interacting along one common corridor.
One parent of a 1st grade camper described Camp Countryside as “Such an amazing camp experience! So much creativity from the instructors and the kids. Very excited every day to show us the swag and cool things made every day! Favorite camp ever!” Another parent of a 2025 camper shared that their child, who does not attend Countryside School, was initially nervous but “was greeted with patience, warmth and welcome, and by day 2, she was excitedly bounding in and afterward telling us about the new friends she was making,” and said, “We loved our experience with Camp Countryside. Looking forward to next year!”
