Eastern Illinois University Youth Programs & Camps

Eastern Illinois University Youth Programs & Camps offers one day workshops, weekend seminars, and week long camps that include activities such as Apprentice Chef Cooking School, Creative Writing Camp, Fun-n-Fit Camps, Rookie Camps, and various Summer Sports Camps. Participants can also take part in Computer Guts, LEGO Camps, Computer Programming, Camp Intervention, Summer Art School, MTIEP Summer Camp, Minority Leadership Camp, Eastern Music Camp, Summer Showcase Camp, and Creativity Camp. The programs are offered through the School of Extended Learning and EIU Camps and Conferences and focus on STEAM topics—Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics—through hands-on, interactive instruction.

Eastern Illinois University Youth Programs & Camps states that its mission is to provide unique opportunities for children and teens to explore their interests and develop new skills. The programs are described as thoughtfully designed to inspire curiosity and foster learning in a supportive and collaborative environment, with an emphasis on balancing structured learning and fun and offering a diverse lineup of activities and a nurturing atmosphere. Summer Sports Camps are described as providing an opportunity to build skills and confidence, Summer Showcase Camp is tailored for high school students and junior college athletes, and Creativity Camp is designed for 5th to 8th graders. Eastern Music Camp is noted as a long-standing tradition that is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year. The programs are coed, not selective, do not award academic credit, are delivered as day programs, and are accredited by the American Camp Association.
