Aquatics Programs - Swim Lessons includes Tiny Tot Swim - Level I, Tiny Tot Swim - Level II, Tiny Tot Swim - Level III, Learn to Swim, Youth Learn to Swim, Semi-Private Swim Lessons, and Lap Swim. Tiny Tot Swim - Level I, II, and III focus on beginning swimming and aquatic skills, with Level I as the first step, Level II as the second step, and Level III as the third step of aquatic education. Learn to Swim and Youth Learn to Swim introduce participants to aquatic activities through water exploration and cover basic swimming techniques, advanced breathing techniques, and the mechanics of freestyle, backstroke, butterfly, and breaststroke, with participants grouped according to skill level.

• Ages: 1–17 years old
• Schedule: The first session of Learn to Swim classes for ages 6–17 runs for 10 weeks.
• Price: The first session (10 weeks) of Learn to Swim classes for ages 6–17 is free when using coupon code FIRSTFREE; after the coupon code is used, fees apply for Learn to Swim classes in later sessions or an additional class in the same session, and this fee can be waived for families who qualify.

In Tiny Tot Swim - Level I, techniques to encourage adjustment into the water are explored along with basic swimming skills, and children must be accompanied by an adult in the water. In Tiny Tot Swim - Level II, tots are introduced to beginning swimming and aquatic skills, and adults do not accompany children in the water. In Tiny Tot Swim - Level III, tots are given instruction in beginning swimming and aquatic skills, it is an advanced class for children who are very comfortable in the water and able to stand on their own in the water, and adults do not accompany children in the water. A swim diaper, covered by plastic pants, must be worn by children who are not toilet trained in Tiny Tot Swim Levels I, II, and III, and a swim diaper covered by plastic pants is required for any child who is not toilet trained.

Every Chicago child can take the introductory Learn to Swim course once for free using the coupon code FIRSTFREE, and the coupon code can be used when registering online or in person at the parks. Due to high demand, some locations may limit the number of Learn to Swim classes a participant can register for. For Semi-Private Swim Lessons, one lane is set aside during Lap Swim for up to three participants, and registration for Semi-Private Swim Lessons must be completed in person.

This program went into effect in Winter 2014. The mission is to give people of all ages, identities, and abilities access to quality recreation, wellness opportunities, and sustainable green spaces in every neighborhood.
