Grandmaster Luciano Medina is the CEO of ChampYon Taekwondo USA Academy and has over 45 years of experience in martial arts. Champion M.A.G), former technical director of more than 20 schools in Mexico, coach for many national and international events, and head coach for TEAM CHAMPYON USA. He is certified by USA Taekwondo and the U.S. Olympic Committee as a level one USA coach and is a national referee certified by the United States Taekwondo Union.
The academy’s mission statement is: “We are cultivating a family and community oriented institute that exemplify the TaeKwonDo tenets while educating students to be true martial artists on and off the mats.” Since 1989, Grandmaster Medina has served as tournament director of the USA ChampYon International Taekwondo Championships. His recognitions include promotion to 8th Dan by World Taekwondo Jidokwan in 2020, induction into the Official Taekwondo Hall of Fame in 2020, a special award from the president of World Taekwondo Federation Kukkiwon in 2005, appointment as international advisory for Kukkiwon in 2008, development coach of the year by the United States Olympic Committee in 2010, a Business Leader Award from the East Side Chamber of Commerce in 2012, and an achievement award in City Hall in 2013 from the President of the Cook County Board of Commissioners Tony Preckwinkle and Commissioner 4th District Stanley Moor.
Community involvement and recognition include the 2012 Selected Business Leader Award by the East Side Chamber of Commerce and the 2013 achievement award in City Hall by Tony Preckwinkle and Stanley Moor.
