Instruction uses modern teaching techniques and a research-based, highly energetic, evolving curriculum.
• Ages: 5–13 years old
Chess Wizards enrichment classes have made learning chess fun since 2002. The program’s mission is to create a safe, fun and friendly environment for students, inspire lifelong learning on and off the chess board, and build relationships and communities connected through the game of chess. Chess Wizards is involved with more than 600 schools, park districts, and community centers across North America. The program uses a robust vetting and training process for instructors, along with a dedicated instructor support team, and expects applicants to be able to manage a classroom of children after the school day, make it fun, and know about chess. Classes give children time to interact face-to-face with friends, improve critical thinking skills, and learn good sportsmanship.
Parents have shared that in-person classes and online versions have been fun and engaging, and that instructors have been “awesome,” “entertaining,” and “knowledgeable.” One parent noted that their child looks forward to Chess Wizards days and has brought chess into family life, while another described it as a great after-school activity that their children consistently describe as fun.
