About

Griffin MSI Camps include single- and multi-day Museum camps where participants learn about different STEM-related topics and careers through hands-on experiences and Museum exhibits. Campers discover winter around the world, craft mini-machines, use 3D printers, and take part in activities that range from fabrication to game design. Many activities are interdisciplinary, bridging science, art, and engineering.

• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Schedule: Curiosity Day Camps are single-day camps on school holidays; Winter Break Camps are three-day sessions; Spring Break Camps are one-week camps; Summer Camps are one-week camps.
• Price: Griffin MSI members save 10% on camps registration.

Griffin MSI Camps take place at the Kenneth C. Griffin Museum of Science and Industry (Griffin MSI), which features exhibits such as the U-505 Submarine, Science Storms, The Blue Paradox, and the Henry Crown Space Center, along with Chicago's only five-story, domed wraparound movie theater showing films projected onto a five-story dome. The Museum was founded in 1933 and in 2024 was renamed the Kenneth C. Griffin Museum of Science and Industry. The Museum states its mission as “Sparking curiosity and innovation through immersive science experiences” and is one of the Museums in the Park supported in part through the generosity of the people of Chicago and the Chicago Park District. All supplies are provided for Griffin MSI Camps, and scholarships are available for students in need.

Griffin MSI is described as one of the largest science museums in the world and North America’s first interactive museum. Testimonials describe the Museum experience as “Wow!” (Clinton W, Crete, Illinois, United States), suggest that families who have not visited recently might want to “see what’s new” (Marielle Shaw, Chicagoist.com), and note that it has moved beyond older exhibit styles into “flashy 21st century displays” (Rachel Azark, CBS Chicago).
