Hubbard Street Dance Chicago Education & Community Programs

Hubbard Street Dance Chicago Education & Community Programs includes in-person school dance residencies and free online lessons and activities for young dancers of all ages and ability levels. The program is part of Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, which has delivered education programs in 50 classrooms across 17 Chicagoland schools and performs 20 times a year in Chicago.

For 48 years, Hubbard Street has been one of the most original forces in contemporary dance. The mission of Hubbard Street Dance Chicago is to awaken the human spirit through contemporary dance, envisioning a dance landscape that is relevant and accessible to all. The organization is committed to opening minds and doors through dance education and increased access to its performances, both virtually and in-person, in schools, at home, and across its community. The main company has performed globally in 19 countries and 44 U.S. states and has a historic partnership with The Verdon Fosse® Legacy. Artistic Director Linda-Denise Fisher-Harrell leads the company, and she has stated that “Adult dancers, continuing practitioners, and returning movers all deserve access to rigorous training, inspiration, and community.” Hubbard Street's Dance On! intensive program for adult dance practitioners age 26+ is featured in Dance Magazine's article, “How Adult Summer Intensives Give Non-Professional-Track Dancers a Chance to Hone Their Craft.” Hubbard Street's Fall Series, Nov. 14–23, 2025, received ★ ★ ★ ★ from the Chicago Tribune, which wrote, “It’s not a milestone year, but the kickoff to Hubbard Street Dance Chicago’s 48th season sure feels like it.”
