About

Lil Sluggers Chicago is a youth baseball program that focuses on basic baseball fundamentals such as throwing, fielding, hitting, catching, and base running. The program offers T-Ball, Coach-Pitch, Saturday Lil League, Advanced Baseball Classes, Private Lessons, and Team Training. Kids rotate in small groups through multiple drill stations, and age-appropriate drills and equipment are used at each level, with Advanced Classes using real baseballs, bats, and gloves.

• Ages: 2–8 years old
• Schedule: Seasonal sessions including Spring Session 2 (April 20–June 13) and Summer Session (June 15–August 15), with multiple winter class options on weekdays and Saturdays

Lil Sluggers states that its mission is to prepare boys and girls ages 2 through 8 for their journey into organized team play by improving and developing their social and physical skills both on and off the field. Basic baseball fundamentals are described as the core of the curriculum, and its classes and coach-pitch instructional leagues are described as building confidence, reinforcing team play, teaching cooperation, and fostering a love for the game. The program notes an energetic pace of classes, small player-to-coach ratios, and an approach that minimizes kids’ wait time between turns, with the stated philosophy: have FUN, build CONFIDENCE, and learn BASEBALL, in that order. Saturday Lil League is run like a real league with teams in full uniform, with T-Ball for ages 4 and 5 and Coach-Pitch for ages 6 to 8, and the program notes that it is never too late to join the current session. The program also offers classes, private lessons, and team training for ages 9 and up and indicates that it will provide updates as it receives them from the Chicago Park District.
