About

Skyline Children's Theater gives children a musical theatre experience that includes rehearsals, auditions, theater games, and a final performance. Participants learn a dance routine, learn a song from the seasonal title, read lines for various characters, sing solos, develop character, and learn both fundamental choreography and more advanced musical theatre choreography. They also learn complex scene work and blocking, take notes in scripts, and sing and dance as an ensemble.

• Ages: 3–14 years old

In November 2004, college roommates and friends Erica and Jacqui reminisced about their childhood theater experiences, and twenty years later Skyline Children's Theater is now one of the largest and longest-running children's theaters in the Chicagoland area. Skyline Children's Theater is an award-winning children's theater company whose work with young actors was cited as a major component to the success of theatre in the state of Illinois, and it has established its presence across 20+ locations. Skyline Children's Theater is described as a prestigious, award-winning children's theater company that is now one of the largest and most enduring children's theater programs in the Chicagoland area.

Skyline Children's Theater believes in providing equal opportunities for all actors and is committed to creating a collaborative environment where actors feel supported, challenged, and empowered. It is a no-cut program where auditions take place on the first day of each session, and every participant who auditions becomes a part of the show's ensemble, with age, development, and experience factored into casting decisions. At the Stars and Performers level, participants have the opportunity to audition for singing solos, and directors may assign dance, singing, or backstage captains during final rehearsals.

Broadway Tots is play-based and high-energy, and Tots learn five songs and dances from that session's musical, with sessions culminating in a final 15 minute performance. Juniors sessions culminate in a 30 minute show, and Juniors stay on stage in a U-formation for the entirety of the final performance. Stars and Performers have hour-long final performances. Families are provided with instructions a few weeks before each final performance on how to assemble an original costume, with specific guidance for the 15 minute Tots show, the 30 minute Juniors show, and the hour-long Stars and Performers shows.
