About

South Side Little League offers baseball related activities, softball related activities, and in season practice. The program also includes a White Sox Game as part of its activities.

South Side Little League has been an integral part of the Chatham community since 1955 and is the only organization of its kind in the Chatham community, with all children coming from Chatham and bordering neighborhoods. Its mission states that it strives to provide a safe space for athletes to learn the fundamentals of baseball while also building character and teaching life lessons, and that it is looking to build winners on and off the field. South Side Little League is a 501 (c)3 non-profit organization and remains a chartered member of Little League Baseball and Softball of Williamsport, PA, playing in District 7. Over time, the league has visited the White House under President George HW Bush and had a stadium donated under Mayor Daley, and it is one of the oldest African-American little leagues in Chicago. The league is purely an in-house little league with no travel ball teams, and all volunteers must pass third party background checks prior to having any involvement within the league.
