About

YMCA Camp Programs include day, overnight, family, and specialty camp options. These camps include physical, social, and educational activities, and give kids the chance to make new friends, learn new skills, and interact with nature. Specialty camps focus on specific interests such as teen adventure, music, sports, and cooking, and there are also camp programs designed for medical and mental health challenges or other special needs.

Founded in London in 1844, the YMCA has grown into one of the largest organizations focused on strengthening communities in the U.S. and around the world, serving more than 64 million people in 120 countries. Across the U.S., Ys reach millions of people in 10,000 communities, across 50 states, plus the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. In 2020, Ys nationwide provided more than 1,400 day camp programs in the U.S. and served 364,910 kids and teens at resident and day camps, and the Y has more than 200 overnight camps for kids and teens, along with specialty camps that focus on specific programs to meet the individual needs of campers.

Leadership connected to YMCA camp programs includes Shawn Morrison, Senior Vice President of Philanthropy at the YMCA of Greater Richmond; Nat Corrall, Director of Child and Youth Development at the YMCA of San Diego County; Tim Joyce, a former camper and CEO of the YMCA of Greater Richmond from 2013–2020; and Mia Kelliher, camp director at the Rancho Family YMCA’s day camp. Through community programs, local outreach and global engagement, the YMCA reports that it provides support and inspires action in communities.
