Illinois Trail Life Summer Camp includes activities such as Aviation, Rocketry, Climbing, Swimming, Outdoor Cooking, Horsemanship, Ropework, Wood Tools, Leatherwork, Shooting Sports, Archery, Canoeing, Boating, Kayaking, and Trail Skills. Campers also take part in Evening Worship, Campfire, Daily devotions, Worship times, Games, scheduled competition game activities, free time activities, service projects, and badge work. Additional activities include Clowning Around, Marshmallow Shooter, Automotive Care, Slingshots, Our Flag, Founding Fathers, Basketball, Baseball, Fireguard, Service, Fire Ranger, Communications, Aquatics, Emergency Preparedness, First Aid, Citizenship, Pioneering, Ham Radio, and Family Man.

During June 21–27, 2026, scheduled times for branch or trail badges take place Monday through Friday, and evenings consist of games and worship as group activities. Camp registration includes the chosen accommodations, 17 meals from Sunday evening through Saturday morning, 2 camp t-shirts, service projects, badge work, daily devotions and worship times, a variety of free time activities, scheduled competition game activities, and other activities described as “loads of fun.” Mountain Lions are placed on a track for branch work, service, and learning experiences to prepare them for moving to the next level in Trail Life, with the possibility of options to work on advanced skills, while Adventurers and Navigators can choose from a select group of elective and required badges. Adventurers have the opportunity to lead sessions and serve in roles such as 1st officer, quartermaster, and assistant chaplain.

Camp accommodations include tent camping, cabins with air conditioning and bunk beds, a Retreat Center with air conditioning and motel-style private rooms with three sets of twin bunk beds, and RV sites with full hook up or electric only, with a bathhouse available with showers for electric-only sites. Tent campers must bring their own tent and gear, cabin campers must bring their own bedding, and Retreat Center guests must bring their own linens, pillows, and bedding, and no maid service is provided. Hammocks are not permitted, tree or cabin tied hammocks are not allowed, and stand hammocks are permitted only for Adventurers who camp with their troop. Retreat Center lodging is restricted to Trailmen with a Registered Adult Parent only, and all attending adults must be current registered members of Trail Life.

Mountain Lion Trailmen are required to have at least two registered adults from their home troop, a parent or legal guardian, or prior agreement from another troop with at least two registered adults to be their acting home troop, and one qualifying adult must be available as a Trail Guide for the Summer Camp Mountain Lion Patrol for at least one day. Illinois’ Trail Life Summer Camp states that it is intended to help grow and mentor Trailmen by offering experiences rich in adventure, character, and leadership, with fun, friendship, and learning. Immanuel supports and backs a troop based in Palatine, and Trail Life serves boys and young men from Kindergarten through 25 years old from anywhere in the community.
