Science & Arts Academy is an independent, non-denominational, co-educational, not-for-profit day school for gifted students in Junior Kindergarten through eighth grade, and its campus was built in 2007. Summer Adventures at Science & Arts Academy is open to both SAA students and the local community. The mission of the program is to provide a safe and enriching summer experience within an environment characterized by intellectual, artistic, physical, social, emotional, and creative growth.

The program employs a team of educators and counselors who are described as fully committed to creating a fun and meaningful summer for every camper, and SAA teachers are noted for understanding gifted children and sharing a passion for providing a challenging and inspiring curriculum. Science & Arts Academy is highly regarded throughout the Chicago area for its challenging and inspiring curriculum, small classroom setting, and expertise and knowledge in supporting gifted children. All SAA students are eligible to use a chaperoned Metra service before and after school between the Chicago Clybourn and Des Plaines Metra stations, with a school shuttle transporting students the short 0.5 mile distance between the Des Plaines Metra station and campus.

Parent and student feedback about Science & Arts Academy includes comments that SAA teaches a child that she belongs in the world just the way she is, that teachers and staff show remarkable dedication to the individual needs of children, and that it is a special place unlike anything else in the area. A faculty member states a strong belief in SAA’s mission and gratitude that the school provides exceptional education for gifted learners, and a Class of 2021 graduate notes growing as both a scholar and a person and looking forward to using skills learned at SAA in high school and beyond.
