Elburn Summer Camp includes group activities, games, sports, songs, and arts & crafts. Campers take part in creative art experiences, exploration, and a field trip, with sports included in an activity rotation. Tuesdays are field trip days and Fridays are swim days.
• Ages: 5–13 years old
• Schedule: Session June 1–August 7, Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.
• Price: Registration: $25 (Non-Refundable); Weekly Deposit: $10 weekly deposit due at registration (Non-Refundable); Reserve Weeks: $10/week fee due at registration; Family Members: $246/week; Members: $262/week; Non-Members: $267/week
Lunches and snacks are not provided, and each child is expected to bring a morning snack, lunch, and afternoon snack. Refrigeration is available onsite for lunches, but lunches cannot be reheated, and home lunches are not refrigerated on field trip days, so non-perishable foods or an ice pack are needed then.
All camp staff are carefully selected and screened, complete state and national extensive background checks, and are CPR and First Aid certified. Staff are DCFS-mandated reporters, are trained in child abuse prevention, child development, group and behavioral management, risk management and emergency preparedness, aquatics and swim safety, bullying and peer pressure awareness, and field trip and bus safety. Staff participate in a minimum of 40 hours of training prior to the beginning of camp, and many camp staff are experienced, returning staff who are 18 or older and are working on degrees in education, psychology, family, or social services. Many staff also work during the school year in before and after-school programs. The leadership team includes Youth Development Director Aaron Confer.
Kishwaukee Family YMCA, which runs the program, has been recognized in the 2025 DeKalb County’s Finest Readers’ Choice Awards.
