About

The BFH (Ballet Folklórico Huehuecoyotl) Children's Dance Program focuses on Mexican folkloric dance. The children's group is part of Ballet Folklórico Huehuecoyotl, which is a non-profit organization.

• Ages: 5–18 years old

Ballet Folklórico Huehuecoyotl was established in 1996 as a non-profit organization under the direction of founder Julian Hernandez. The children's group was created in 2000 to share the knowledge gained and pass it on to younger generations, allowing them to learn about their heritage while engaging in healthy activities. Elgin Community College partners with in-residence ensembles, including BFH (formerly known as Ballet Folklórico Huehuecoyotl), as part of its role as a cultural hub for the region. Since the mid-1970s, these partnerships have included institutional support, performance spaces, artistic collaboration, and participation for musicians of different ages and skill levels. Parents have described the ECC Arts Center in Google Reviews as the “Best Community College Arts Center Around!!,” “Great space to enjoy a variety of very interesting performances,” a “Wonderful place for Music,” and noted its “Great sound quality” and “Intimate setting.”
