The Hill BMX is a full-service, all-volunteer, non-profit BMX racing track that has been serving kids and families of Northern Illinois since its founding in 1990. The track is open only during scheduled events and offers four levels of racing—Beginner, Novice, Intermediate, and Expert—with racers divided into age-appropriate groups and proficiency levels. All bikes are welcomed, and BMX racing is described as an individual sport where teams are optional, with riders able to race for points on local, state, regional, and national levels toward a #1 plate.

The beginners-only Elgin BMX League serves as an on-ramp for new riders and is open to boys and girls 4–15 years of age, as well as adults in the immediate family of enrolled riders, who ride for $50 off. Participants in the beginners-only League program receive a provisional USA BMX membership as part of their League tuition, valid for the duration of the League season but not for other activities at the track. A USA BMX membership is required to ride, except that first-time riders receive a free one-day trial membership.

Clinics at The Hill BMX are led by top expert and pro riders, including US Olympian Nic Long, Veteran Pro Barry Nobles, and pro Carly Kane, and pro clinics include Meet & Greet time after the event. Free “give it a try” events for new riders are offered throughout spring, summer, and fall. The program states that it is a key part of its overall mission to keep kids interested and engaged in BMX racing.
